I realize most New Yorkers are already aware of this, because New York Cares advertises heavily on the subways, but their Annual Winter Coat Drive is going on until December 31, and the organization reports that donations are down by about 10% this year (which translates to about 8,000 coats less than they usually receive). Meanwhile, demand is up--probably because we've had such a harsh winter already.

Do you have an old or extra coat in your closet? Want to donate it? Here's where (and when) you can drop it off:

7:30-9:30 AM, weekdays:
Grand Central Terminal (Graybar Passage)
New York Penn Station (LIRR and Amtrak concourses)
New York Port Authority Bus Terminal (Main concourse, 42nd Street entrance)

7:30 AM-3:00 PM, weekdays:
U.S. Coast Guard Recruiting and Service Center (next to Staten Island Ferry, Manhattan side)

Anytime:
All New York City Police Precincts
Janovic Paint & Decorating Centers
All Oz Moving and Storage Locations
The Pond at Bryant Park (At the ice rink!)
Time Warner Cable Stores
