T Campbell In Deal to Publish Book Based on History of Webcomics Series

Antarctic Press has agreed to publish a print version of T Campbell's "History of Online Comics" series first publshed here at Comixpedia. Retitled "The History of Webcomics", the book will feature expansions and revisions of its current material as well as new chapters.
Fans Ends 6 Year Run

Fans officially ended yesterday, calling a close to over six years of comics stories about a science-fiction club that repeatedly saved the world. Fans was the most popular strip on Graphic Smash and the second most popular to require a subscription (the first remains American Elf).
T Campbell, the writer, has announced several new projects, including a series in development for Tokyopop (still in need of an artist), a Fans-related summer story called "The Iron Easel," and a book version of The History of Online Comics.
Jason Waltrip, the series' main artist, is now drawing a book for Tokyopop called Idiotz.
David Willis, artist pro tempore in the series' final days, continues his work on Roomies, Shortpacked and It's Walky.

Keenspot Secretly Adds Mad About U to Lineup

Well not so secret anymore as it's the newsbox for today, but in fairly typical Keenspot fashion, there's been no previous announcement from Keenspot that they've added Teague Tysseling's Mad About U to the Keenspot lineup.
Congrats to Teague - Mad About U looks good so far.

The Comixpedia May 2005 event starts in about a week! It's called Mayday, and it's all about the action! Well... all about action, and all about you!
Mayfair Day is in trouble again. Which is no surprise – that guy's always in a scrape. Trotting the globe, finding the treasure, saving the orphans and stopping the bad guys. That's his job. And part of that job is danger!
So Mayfair's in trouble, and it's up to you to get him out. But no matter how hard you get him out, he's just gonna get right back into it.
Here's how it plays out:
We've got some of the greatest artists in action comics contributing a panel every week to this event. Each panel, posted weekly, will show Mayfair in deep trouble. And every week, we need you to show how Mayfair gets out of a jam – and right back into it.

Why Not More Women Editorial Cartoonists?

Part of the problem is the decreasing number of any jobs for editorial cartoonists, but why has the print biz done such a lousy job of hiring women for these jobs? According to this article, "less than 4 percent of editorial cartoonists on major syndicates are female."
That's astoundingly bad when you stop and reflect on it.
