I won't be online much this weekend so stay safe out there on the digital badlands...

ALTBRAND At Pittsburgh Con 2002

Still the only Con I've "exhibited" at: ALTBRAND had a booth at Pittsburgh's Comicon in 2002. Here's a mention of it in an old article at Border Walker.

Format For Blind Date II

A few years ago we did a great "event" called Blind Date which paired up webcomics creators to make a comic together. (I will put up the archive of Blind Date I very soon). With the idea of having a regular schedule of events this year I'd like to organize a Blind Date II for February.

Cleaning Up The Office: 2007 Edition

I hate throwing anything out but I'm all out of space! Here's a few random items from conventions that I'll mention online as I discard the offline version - maybe the karma will even out for me!

Working on Planet Z!

So after a long break from regularly posting any comics (really almost 3+ years) I'm focused on making some again. Putting them up on the web is nice if it gets me any feedback plus like a lot of others it's nice to see your work up on the screen in sequence.

Step one of setting up a website I took care of last year in resurrecting altbrand.com into a functional site again. I'm using a slightly modified version of Greg Stephen's ZWOL script (which is really nice btw) which supports multiple comics on one site.

News For Friday, January 5, 2007

COMIXPEDIA

  • Lots of PW ad slots available for FREE at frightnight.org. These may be worth a bit more in February (more details on that next week).

INTERVIEWS

ADVERTISING

  • In addition to the product-placement Gieni-Crosby-penned Wicked Powered, Microsoft has a webcomic called The Enchanted Office up about its new Office product.
  • Project Wonderful was down for a blip this morning but appears to be back up. There are a few new sizes of ads available to use thru PW now - 728x90 and 125x125.

JUSTIFY MY HYPE

  • I just read Thunder & Lightning at ComicGenesis by Cassandra Matteis and Lara Whitaker. It's got a lot of pretty generic manga-flavored art set in a pretty generic fantasy-flavored world, but the twist in the first chapter involving the werewolf character changed my mind towards it: it's uneven, but I'm hopeful the creators stick with it. Check it out - it won't take long for you to read the whole archives.
  • The Beat likes the new webcomic Inanna’s Tears written by Rob Vollmar and illustrated by mpMann.
