Conner and Palmiotti Join Baltimore Comic-Con!
BALTIMORE, MD (Aug 15, 2007) – Jimmy Palmiotti (Painkiller Jane, Countdown, Jonah Hex) and Amanda Conner (Green Arrow Black Canary Wedding Special, Power Girl), along with an impressive slate of additional writers and artists have joined the roster for the September 8-9, 2007 Baltimore Comic-Con.
Scott Kurtz (PvP), Tim Truman (Conan), Pop Mhan (Spy Boy), Norman Lee (Mary Jane), Bob McLeod (New Mutants), Stephane Roux (Birds of Prey), Dexter Vines (Superman-Batman), Keith Pollard (Silver Surfer), and creators Tariq Hassan, Chris Ivy, and Tim Vigil are also set to attend.
"We're thrilled to have Jimmy and Amanda back at the Baltimore Comic-Con. They are wonderful people and great guests." said Marc Nathan, the show's promoter. "With 3+ weeks go before the show, we're not done yet! Look for more announcements in coming days."
This is in addition to the line-up which is headed by Guest of Honor Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and includes Jim Lee (Batman, Wildcats), David Finch (Moon Knight, New Avengers), Frank Cho (Mighty Avengers), Adam Kubert (Action Comics), Mark Waid (Boom! Studios new Editor-in-Chief), Paul Pope (THB), James Jean (Fables), and Don Rosa (Uncle Scrooge).
The guest list also includes such legendary creators as Joe Kubert (Sgt. Rock), Al Feldstein (former editor of MAD), and John Romita, Sr. (Amazing Spider-Man, also sponsored by the Hero Initiative).
The convention is held at the Baltimore Convention Center and will feature publishers, studios and service organizations including The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, DC Comics, Gemstone Publishing, The Hero Initiative, Image Comics, Insight Studios Group, The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, Top Cow Productions, and Top Shelf Productions. A significant number of the top retailers in the comic industry will set up with a selection ranging from the oldest known American comics to the most recent.
The Baltimore Comic-Con will also play host to the Harvey Awards for the second time. The awards ceremony and dinner will be on Saturday night, September 8.

Awards Dinner Tickets Available!
BALTIMORE, MD (August 27, 2007) – The Harvey Awards dinner and presentation ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 8th, at the Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards. Tickets are now available for the event, which will begin at 7:00pm with a cocktail hour, to be followed at 8:00pm with dinner and the awards ceremony.
The Harveys, named after the legendary MAD founding editor and master storyteller Harvey Kurtzman, recognize outstanding achievements in over 20 categories. They are the only industry awards both nominated by and selected by the full body of comic book professionals.
"Last year, we were very pleased with the response from the industry and specifically from our community regarding the Harvey Awards coming to Baltimore. We were eager to increase their profile and the recognition of their standing. Based on the feedback received, we made a very good start. This year, we're looking to build on that, and we hope as many fans of the comic arts as possible will join us,” said Marc Nathan, promoter of the Baltimore Comic-Con.
Guests for dinner and the awards ceremony will enjoy a full banquet style dinner of filet mignon and Baltimore style crabcake. For the second year, we are pleased to have Kyle Baker to act as our Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Sergio Aragonés, co-creator of Groo and MAD artist, will serve as keynote speaker. In addition, the 2nd Annual Hero Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented.
New this year is the gift bag available to all dinner guests. The first 300 attendees will receive The EC Archives: Two-Fisted Tales - Volume 1 which features work by award namesake Harvey Kurtzman and many other greats, as well as a complete base set of the soon-to-be-released Jericho Season One trading cards from Inkworks, an exclusive cloisonné pin from AdHouse Books, a Comic-Con exclusive edition of 30 Days of Night: Red Snow #1 from IDW Publishing, a Toon Tumbler drinking glass from Popfun merchandising, and an exclusive Harvey Awards keychain from LaserMach.
Harvey Awards tickets are on sale now. Tickets to the event, which includes the full cocktail hour (cash bar), full service dinner, and awards ceremony, are now available for $75. For those who wish to attend the ceremony only, tickets are available for $10 or free with a two-day pass to the convention. The hall will be opened for those ticket holders at approximately 8:45. Attendees who purchase a ceremony-only ticket are not eligible to receive the gift bag.
