Where my dogs at?! February being Black History Month, I was just wondering who are the black webcomic creators around here and what comics are they creating. So, black webcomic creators tell us a bit about yourself, your comic, and leave a link. I'm Darryl Hughes aka "TheDeeMan". I'm a freelance writer from New York City and the writer/creator of the 50's style monsters-run-amok, alien invasion adventure with the Spielberg flare G.A.A.K: Groovy Ass Alien Kreatures with artist Monique MacNaughton, the creator of the Graphic Smash comic "UNA Frontiers". Monique and I have been working on GAAK together since October 2001 and have released one trade paperback collection of the online series currently running at Webcomics Nation (and Drunk Duck) to date. Woah!

I just came back from MegaCon in Orlando, Fl. There were so many black cartoonists there. I was asked by someone about it and I think the answers kinda' simple. Alot of artists are deciding to put out stories with minorities because they realize no one else will. I was sort of upset about the lack of blacks in comics for the longest time but I finally woke up to the fact that I was sort of responsible too. I think its cool though and it's a positive sign of things to come.

Hey what's up? My name's Lindsay Totty and I write and draw a manga-inspired political webcomic called Lucky + Guy. It updates every Tuesday and Friday. Boogie Down!

I thought I'd let u guys in on this before it even got started. I'm publishing the first ever hip hop comic book series with its own mixtape in a few months called "Boogie Down!" and the characters will be featured in a webcomic on the book's website. I'm really late on this post but my screen name is shalonda and I am currentyl working on my webcomic called "No Punks Allowed." I'm really bad with summaries but is based around love between different ethnics and it does have a christian theme. Also it will address the drama of coming out of a abusive relationship, stalkers, and trying to fight to get the type of career you are working towards. Well, I don't have a web comic at this time. I had one back in early 2006. In fact I started it on January 01, 2006 which was a Sunday. It was supposed to be a five day per week. strip.

Talk about a learning lesson. Well, I learned how much effort it takes to create a strip REAL FAST. My strip quickly dropped from five days per week to three. Even that was difficult given my real job. So I ended up dropping it.

Now I'm writing a few new strips in advance. Once I have a couple of solid scripts I am going to illustrate them and then, AND ONLY THEN, will I publish them three days per week.

I'm dalles from South Carolina, Secertary by day artist/ gamer/ surfer by night. One of my comics called Imaginary Illustrations It's on Webcomic Nation Drunkduck, Comic dish, and Comic Dig. It's a story based on some true aspects of my life. It has jokes, magic, fights and some drug use. Rated mature because I'm not really into any kid-type stories. Lovin' Lunar Boy: Act One

It's really well done. With artwork that reminds of the best of the saturday morning cartoons I watched back when I was a kid. And the action is kinetic. Almost hyper-kinetic. It never leaves your eyes alone. LOL! I noticed that that artwork on Act One is sort of different then the current pages. Why'd you switch up? G.A.A.K was cool. It had an old-school art style to in that really brought me back real fast. lol. It's cool to see artists that can really draw different types of people and make it look decepitively simple.

You have no idea how many times I've heard that. Hey, if you're over 30 and live in NYC, back in he late 70's/early 80's you ran home after school when it was Godzilla/Gamera week or Scifi week on the old "4:30 Movie" program on ABC. Or watched old 50's/60's scifi/horror movies on Chiller Theatre on Saturdays. At the time the idea came up to do a comic like the old creature feature movies I used to watch growing up I was really ready to do something a little different then what I'd been doing at the time. GAAK turned out to be that "lttle something different". But if I were just reading GAAK I'd probably think "white guy" too. Even worse? GAAK's artist Monique MacNaughton is Canadian. And there really should be a law against such things. You know, like...ugh...Canadians. LOL! I'll be sure to check out The Vanguard.  hello michelle I'm Dezz T. better known as the gecko , I've been a cartoonist for over 25 years I had  a comic strip that ran for 13 years in Tenn's alternative Black newspaper , then I started doing small press comics and my books thong girl and a comic book called kinetic kitty about a corn-rowed super powered kung-fu kitty . I just got back from a convention in chattanooga where i sold nothing , zero, zilch.. but I can't give up I won't if you give up on your dream you slowly start to die.. anywho nice to talk to a fellow artist.
