Besides all the drawing I've been doing lately, I've been working on a few scripts. I've become kind of obsessed with this throwaway character (actually a red herring, if I may ruin the reveal) for one of these, a superhero named The Laughing Samson, and I couldn't resist sketching him up as he appears in my head.

So, hey, it appears that Barack Obama will be the official Democratic nominee for President of the United States. I think that's great news, if just because maybe it means that some of you who were getting quite liberal with chucking the b-word around Clinton can give it a goddamn rest already. Some of you were throwing it around like tickertape.
Superman: Man Of Style Redesign Contest

I'm very excited. I dropped Dean Trippe over at Project:Rooftop a note a couple weeks back about Superman's 70th anniversary coming up, and how it'd be as good a time as any to break P:R's very own rule about redesigning the Superman costume. He agreed, got coordinated with a LOT of people in a real short amount of time (I'm impressed!), and LOOK!

Did some more tiny heroes this weekend, starting with two classic pulps:

And then one of Kirby's Female Furies. Now I guess I have to do all of them:

Kate and I had this conversation1 on the way to a Farmer's Market in Wallingford2 on Wednesday evening3, regarding which was more awesome: The male or female versions of classic monsters.
I came up with a straightforward trend, unfortunately; Male versions were cooler, Female versions were hotter. Frankenstein's Monster, what with all the tragedy and loss and passion is much more awesome than the Bride of Frankenstein, but the Bride is many factors of a thousand times hotter. The Amy Winehouse hairstyle helps.

I received a couple of Tiny Heroes commissions recently, I finished them up last night before finally getting started on the Star Wars: Clone Wars sketchcards and some website work. Sadly, I started dozing off before I could get to laying out this three-pager I'm trying to get done in a rush. I AM BUSY is what I'm saying (but not too busy for more tiny hero commissions, HOLLA with your TWENTY DOLLAS!)
