Shades - all together now!
Submitted by DAJB on October 10, 2007 - 02:22
Phew! A lot of new characters have been introduced since the online graphic novel Shades first started its run at BVC - a retired tailor, a WW2 fighter pilot, the warrior queen Boudicca and a prehistoric Shaman. Not to mention the three teenagers who've just arrived on the scene. Of course if they all appeared at the same time, you'd never be able to keep track of them, right?
Oh, you think you could? Well, as it happens, that's just as well because in today's instalment the whole motley crew is finally brought together. Don't worry - they've promised not to all speak at once!
Hunted - of frying pans and fires!

Sometimes things just go from bad to worse. The last time we saw little Leni in BVC's vampire comic Hunted, for example, a rather irate woman was slashing at her with a sickle. You remember - blood everywhere!
So, if that was bad, what could be worse? Hey, you won't find any plot spoilers being revealed here but don't worry. You only have to visit the latest instalment at Broken Voice Comics to find out!
The Spires - better late than never!
Submitted by DAJB on October 5, 2007 - 08:54
If you visited the Broken Voice Comics website on Monday, expecting to catch up on the latest developments in The Spires, you'll already know the page wasn't there. Sorry, guys.
You'll also know, however, that BVC did promise to have the latest instalment up and running before the end of the week and you know what? It is (just!) So, go see it now - it's got a new character and everything!
Shades - history in the (re-)making!
Submitted by DAJB on October 3, 2007 - 04:52
Aah, London in the 1880s ... a time of Empire, horse-drawn carriages and naked men who could conjure up spirits and call down lightning. Well, according to the online graphic novel Shades it was, anyway!
Okay, okay - so, that's not the way they taught it at school. But this version is much more fun. See for yourself in today's instalment at Broken Voice Comics!
Shades - it's party time!

Those Victorians knew how to have fun, eh? Dress the women in low-cut dresses and the men in ... well, not very much apart from tattoos and a butcher's apron, really. Or maybe those kind of parties only happen in the online comic Shades!
Either way, you can look in on one such party over in today's instalment at Broken Voice Comics. Do make sure you're properly dressed, though. The dress code is strictly enforced!
Hunted - blood and thunder!
Submitted by DAJB on September 24, 2007 - 04:38
Actually, that heading is probably a little misleading. There hasn't been any thunder in BVC's vampire comic Hunted so far and, to be honest, that's not really going to change today.
For those who like that sort of thing, however, there is plenty of blood in the latest instalment. Well, what self-respecting vampire comic would be complete without it?!
The Lumbering Dead - they're coming!
Submitted by DAJB on September 21, 2007 - 14:37
You remember Issue 1 of Lee Munday's The Lumbering Dead, right? The frighteningly funny slice-of-life comic with just a faint whiff of zombie mayhem always lingering just around the corner? Of course you do!
Well, today we have some special news. No, sadly we're not ready to unleash Issue 2 on the unsuspecting populace just yet but we are able to give you a fascinating insight into Lee's work on the absolutely stunning cover for it! Here's all you have to do:
- first, remind yourself just how cool Lee's line art is for his latest masterpiece;
- second, take a peek at the newest addition to our Previews area: a sneaky glimpse of the painted version of the cover while still a work-in-progress;
- finally, vote for BVC's signature title Shades by clicking on the buttons at the top (or bottom) of either of the above preview pages and - when you confirm your vote at TWC - you'll be taken to an exclusive view of the completed cover ... fully painted and polished to a horrifyingly wonderful finish!
Shades - the oldest profession?
Submitted by DAJB on September 19, 2007 - 05:09
As a five thousand year-old spirit-walker, the Shaman in BVC's online graphic novel Shades might be forgiven for thinking he's part of the world's oldest profession.
But then, most people would generally agree there's at least one profession that's older than that. And, in today's instalment, it seems one such hard-working professional is about to meet some rather unsavoury characters. Well, it's an occupational hazard, I guess!
The Spires - comfortably numb!
Submitted by DAJB on September 17, 2007 - 04:38
You know how it is ... some people just don't seem to be able to relax unless they're pumped full of alcohol or exotic narcotics. It's true in the real world and it's just as true in the fantasy world of The Spires. Well, it's true for most of the races, anyway.
For slythes like the Lady Jeste, of course, it's entirely different. As you can see in the latest instalment at Broken Voice Comics, it's when the drugs start wearing off that they really let their hair down!
Shades - Chapter 7 launched!

Come on - you know better than to expect plot-spoilers but, just to whet your appetite, let's just say that you'll get a glimpse of the kind of thing our naked 5,000 year old mystic has been up to these last five thousand years. Want to know more? Hey, go read the latest instalment now!
