anime for the winter

Here’s a clip from the panel I hosted at the NY Anime Fest last weekend
(might be kind of random if you aren't a huge Potter or Avatar fan):

Thanks to Alison Wilgus and Tina Lam for co-hosting!

Here’s a photo from the live Trivia Bending battle at the same panel:

And some Avatar cosplayers about to kick my butt for not giving more spoilers:

Insert X pun here

I hope to write up a con report for the NY Anime Fest tonight...but for now I'll just quote from the the big project announcement:

Marvel Entertainment and Del Rey Manga, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, announced today plans to publish two new manga series based on Marvel Entertainment's highly popular X-Men series.

New York Anime Fest

I'm really looking forward to the upcoming New York Anime Festival! in two weeks!

The Comics Bakery will have a table in Artist Alley with our usual buffet of comic related goodies.

And I'll be appearing on two panels:

Avatar : The Last Airbender - Comics & Magazines
Friday December 7th at 4 PM-5 PM
Hosted by Nickelodeon Magazine editor, Dave Roman.
Featuring Avatar magazine contributors Alison Wilgus and Tina Lam.

CHOWDER!

Based on several things I’ve read, less and less kids are watching old-fashioned cartoon shows, thanks to things like High School Musical & Hannah Montana, which destroy everything in their path. Cartoon Network has live action shows now (I hope all those Goosebumps specials helped Scholastic sell more Goosebump graphic novels--but I doubt it!).

Noob no more?

What's old is new!

In an effort to make the beginning of Astronaut Elementary more consistent with the current pages, I've completely redrawn the welcome/intro chapter, expanding it from 2 to 5 pages.
When I originally did the intro, I tried to cram as much onto a page as possible. But now I see the value of having breath room! So hopefully it will be less of an intimidating to new readers.
