The Christmas Comic that I did for The Coast is up on their site (click the image to get a larger version, where you can actually read the text). It stars the Zombies Calling characters, and is possibly the funniest thing I've ever done. After completing this comic, I rolled around on the floor and laughed and laughed, which was a first for me. I think the only other time I giggled while doing a comic was drawing that part in ZC where Robyn has the sex dream about Belinda Stronach. :D

Okay, obviously, no update today. I got busy with work again, so things got pushed aside. I have a couple things to mention, tho: I'll be at two signings for Zombies Calling over the holidays. I already mentioned this on my personal blog, but I figure it should get mentioned here as well. Here's the first signing info:

Oh man, I just had a ... social escapade of Seinfeldian proportions.
I missed the UPS shipment of my complimentary Zombies Calling copies (ooh, so pretty and shiny!), so I drove down to the shipping place to pick them up. The guy at the desk looked at my 'missed delivery' notice and commented "Huh, Slave Labor Graphics? I don't like that name." I replied something to the effect of "oh, it's 'cause if you work in comics you never make any money etc" and we talked a bit about zombies after he asked about my book.

Ice update, yay! Four new pages to the story. Luckily I was able to borrow and scrounge up some brush pen refills, 'cause Loomis still doesn't have any. Oh well. At least I was successful in my scrounging.

Today I noticed a car with a bumper sticker that read "No Jesus, No Peace. Know Jesus, Know Peace." Right next to that sticker was an army bumper sticker. "No Peace" indeed.
Also, I am somewhat alarmed by the way the rust is marching across my car ... hold together one more winter, little car, hold together. Every now and the I expect to fall straight through the floor and have the car coast off without me, leaving me sitting on the road with a steering wheel in my hands.

Yes, yes, I know, it's TOTALLY ANNOYING that all I've posted about of late is comics related stuff ... but one more, and this is an interesting one. Well, if you're interested in hearing what I sound like: I was interviewed by the podcast Comic News Insider about ZC (or as the Americans on the show called it: "Zee Cee"), so if you want to hear me fumbling merrily through topics like comics, submission cover letters (my secret weapon) and killer seagulls, then go here.

I have a signing, at The Beguiling in Toronto in a couple of weeks (blog post about it). Here's the Thunderdome-esque promo art:

Well, once again the art gods have conspired to keep me from updating my comic... the art store was out of brushpen refills. Thus, no way to ink the comic. I guess I could've used one of those icky brush markers, or my dip brush, but ... I'm picky and I don't wanna. So Ice will be updated whenever Loomis gets refills in. A pity too, I was looking forward to this update if you know what I mean nudge nudge wink wink. ;p

Ice update! Three new pages... and with those three pages, a close to this scene, one of the toughest scenes I've ever written. Whew! Really kind of glad it's ended. Not to say the rest of the comic won't be challenging, but ye gods, when you tackle subjects like that ... it can be somewhat paralysing. But now it's over, and I've had a very busy weekend (click here to find out about my merry adventures), so I'm not going to spout off like I thought I would.
