The Variants: Episode Three

I've just discovered a clever, fast-paced Web series based in the Zeus Comics store in Dallas, Texas. It's funny as hell, and very enjoyable to anyone who has seen the inside of a comic shop (or wants to).

From their site:

Hi. My name's Joe Cucinotti. Formerly a radio DJ in Dallas/Fort Worth and a host of the short-lived (but soon to rise again like a phoenix from the ashes) podcast JOE VS KEN that I produced with long time friend Ken Lowery.

A Scanner Dorkly: Oct. 8

Last week, Star Sapphire took center stage in the Green Lantern / Blackest Night storyline, Black Cat continued to torment Spider-Man and the Divas continued their sashay through the Marvel Universe.

It should be no surprise, then, that with all the estrogen the theme of the week would be outfits.

Mid-Ohio-Con stories

Whoever said "getting there is half the fun" had no idea what I went through to get to Columbus last weekend to attend Mid-Ohio-Con.

The Thursday before the convention weekend, my wife and I noticed that the turn signal had stopped working in our Saturn SL1. I, of course, declared that we could not drive the family to Ohio with the car in that state because it would be a Safety Issue.

New-Gen Interview

New-Gen recently invited me to an interview that covered a wide range of topics -- from the history of Evil Inc to my love for Plastic Man.

It starts out with my describing how I graduated college in '91 and became a political cartoonist in Canton, Ohio. I gradually turned from cartooning to newspaper graphics until something happened to bring me back to my original love. It's a pretty good summation of everything that was going on in my life that brought me to webcomics.
