Tom Dell’Aringa is an interesting fella. He was in the old Comic of the Month with me when it was actually active a few years back. One day I received an e-mail from him telling me that he that he could not link to my comic due to its content and that his comic was more intended for families. I was ok with it, he was very polite and cordial. He did eventually end up leaving COTM for ‘undisclosed reasons’ even though I’m pretty sure it was because of my comic.
The funny twist ending to this? Him and I are BOTH members of Palace in the Sky now. I love how irony works.

At least 10 times in this movie Freddy Krueger cuts himself to try to gross out his victim. Â Naturally, I asked myself what would happen if that really hurt him. Â The answer: hilarity.

If you have the special edition of this dvd, then you have the option of watching this backwards movie in chronological order.  But don’t, because it sucks that way.  Leonard just kills Teddy and develops the photo.  That’s it, no aftermath, no closure, nada.  So we decided what would happen is that after staring at his photo for awhile, he’d forget about what he’s looking at, due to the whole memory issue he has, resulting in one pretty funny moment.

I think it’s absolutely hilarious, but I see how it can be a little to much…but in reality you KNOW everyone was thinking this about a man with KNIVES for ARMS.

When it comes to crass humor, two things are the funniest: violence and sex.  The first strip, based off “The Departed†was the violence joke.  I’m sure you know what this one is.  In the joke, we make light of one of the only “v†words the V character didn’t use in his speech.  It was discovered when my girlfriend Melissa called the movie “V for Vagina.† Yeah, she’s awesome.

Here we are, back at where it all began.  This was first published in December of 2007, when For The Reels was first conceived.  My twin brother Jon and I were always interested in comic books and movies and decided to combine the two in a weekly strip we’d put online.  We developed a handful of ideas that day, but this “Departed†one came first solely because it was resting on our apartment’s coffee table and I saw it first.  I thought this joke effectively demonstrated the type of crazy-ass humor we were shooting for, and the movie was amazing.
