If you're going to Otakon 2008 and willing to share your experience with webcomics (especially getting 'em online and getting 'em promoted), then Comic Genesis' Kelly "STrRedWolf" Price needs you!  He's forming an "Webcomics 102 (Getting 'em up and noticed)" panel and is looking for others to join him. 

The Examiner, a year-old newspaper in selected cities including Baltimore, has removed all comics from the paper and expanded the games section to fill the rest of the page. Marmaduke, Over The Hedge, Pooch Cafe, Spot the Frog, and other strips are nowhere to be found in the paper starting this Monday, with no word as to why they were removed.

DNS was brought back up last night, restoring service to Comic Genesis. Keenspot is still hard hit and will be worked on.

Keenspot and Comic Genesis are down due to a major failure of a server vital to the two services. Emergency repairs are being done at this time, but there is no ETA on when the two will be back online.

Dave Hopkins, who draws the hard, gritty webcomic Jack is in serious medical trouble. Some medications are causing problems with his mouth, and he's facing a $10K bill just to get it straightened out. More information on this link, and where to donate.

Help save Palladium Books! The publisher not only is unable to overcome a $1.3 million loss due to embezzlement, many deals with Nokia fell through, other deals are slow going, and the books are just not flying off the shelves. If there's no inflow of cash, no more Palladium! They're now selling a limited numbered edition poster of all their Megaverse characters for $50 each (plus S&H).

MoveOn.org recently discovered a bill that AT&T and other Internet ISP giants are trying to get enacted into law -- one that allows them to control which sites get better access to the Internet. If enacted, the playing field gets rocky as connectivity to indepenent webcomics and collectives dies while print comics bribe ISP's for the extra access. They're now running a petition to Congress asking the Congress critters to vote against the bill.

CBS Evening News aired today a report about "Big Top" cartoonist Rob Harrell, and how 15 fellow Universal Press Syndicate artists (including Jim Davis of Garfield fame) stepped in to guest-draw when he had to be hospitalized for eye cancer.
