I've always wanted to build a portfolio of commissioned art - specifically around the Superman Family, for whom I am wacky. There are a lot of possible themes to pursue in that ouvre, but I thought I'd start with a modest one and collect illustrations of the super-groovy costumes Supergirl wore through the 1970s (small selection here, tell me if you can find more).
Les McClaine started it off with this backless number (he also drew an Atomic Skull for a "Superman's Enemies" collection, which I'll start in earnest at some other time - once I can afford a Fred Hembeck illo of the Silver Age Brainiac, dude fuckin' CHARGES).
Next one is by the amazing Jemma Salume, of what is one of the cutest costumes Supergirl wore. I shouldn't have this knowledge, but I do ...
That's all I got now, but I'll pick up more when I have a little extra spending cash after the holidays. I'm loving these two, though! Thanks for the hard work, guys, these're awesome!
