Can You Protect Your Parody Work From Infringement?

A Goats post about chasing down a copycat t-shirt salesman actually raises an interesting legal question which is: how much copyright protection do you actually get for a parody, especially one that incorporates material that is copyrighted or trademarked by someone else.

I think he took their name

I think he took their name down in the article, which is fine, because his army of Goats fans would have done BAD things to them-- but for other creators, you might want to know who this shirt person was -- I think it MIGHT have been http://www.mondotees.com/ -- because they had a Republicans for Voldemort bootleg shirt on ebay-- and just about everything they produce is bootleg copyright infringement. Make sure your ideas aren't on there. ;)
