March Issue Week 3 Online

Issue 26 of Comixpedia wraps up with comics, reviews and an interview. First off the debut of a new ongoing webcomic at Comixpedia from Kristofer Straub titled Modern Humor Authority and of course the third installment of Ping Teo's The Essence Of.... We have short reviews of two webcomics this month - Man-Man and Sarah Zero. Finally we have an interview with Graveyard Greg of Gaming Guardian.

Next month will focus on women in webcomics with a cover from Faith Erin Hicks.

Modern Humor Authority #1

In a new monthly Comixpedia column, Kristofer Straub brings us a behind-the-scenes look at the denizens of that other webcomics magazine.

Week 3 of the January Issue Up

For week 3, Eric Burns reviews Goats and Al Schroeder talks with Kristopher Straub and Chex of Checkerboard Nightmare. Concentrated funny right there!

We also have a tutorial on the basics of drawing, scanning and saving from Chris "Frodo" Furniss.

Finally, we've got the first installment of a new column from Ping Teo called "Essence of". I'm excited about this because (okay I'm excited about all things Comixpedia) Ping's column will be in the form of a comic.

Thanks for submitting your questions for Jeff Rowland - they are now in route (or soon will be) to Jeff through the internets. We await his answers.

Al Schroeder Talks with Kristofer Straub and Chex

For years now Kristofer Straub has been chronicling the ambitious publicity-hungry doings of Chex in Checkerboard Nightmare. Whenever webcomics is beginning to take itself too serioiusly, Chex is there, to remind us to laugh. Up until now Straub and Chex have never appeared in an interview together but now we bring you this Comixpedia exclusive: the first joint Straub/Chex interview.

Tux and Bunny Interview LOTS of People THIS MONTH

Over at the webcomic, Tux and Bunny the bunnies are doing interviews.

Fluffy Bunny interviewed Chris Vickers of Downshift, Ananth of Applegeeks, and Kristofer Straub of Checkerboard Nightmare; Female Bunny interviewed Brad Guigar of Greystone Inn and the Mac Bears interviewed Apis Teicher of Blatah! and Hawk of Applegeeks.

CheckerboardNightmare Does Animation And Mocks EVERYTHING!!!!

Checkerboard Nightmare by Kristofer Straub posted an animation that was pretty well done (Straub did great voices too for Chex and Lyle) and just MOCKED the hell out of several other webanimation series out there. Really funny piece.

The parody of Strongbad Email was classic...

Money Money Money: Need Some, Got Some

An update on recent fundraising drives around webcomicland.

Greg Dean is currently raising money to buy new servers for his popular webcomic Real Life.

Joe England of Zebra Girl is about 1/3 of the way to the stated goal of his fundraiser and Michael Jantze of The Norm is more than 1/2 way to his January 1st goal..

Desmond Seah of Bigger Than Cheeses is not actually very close to his stated goal of 50 trillion dollars, but we wish him luck anyway.

And finally, from the success stories file, Jamie Robertson announced that enough fans had signed up for a Clan of the Cats membership that he could continue to devote the time to making the webcomic.

Checkerboard Nightmare Takes on Webcomicsland... Again

Consider this your slow-news-Friday-post: Checkerboard Nightmare today takes aim at Websnark (but also a quick shot at Scott "PVP" Kurtz and Comixpedia).

I love it when Straub does this - it is mean, but it's lovingly mean-spirited. But it's about as insular to webcomics community as humor can get it, isn't it?

Let The Voting Begin!!!

So, the entries are in, and the links are up (all except for 24's, which I will be adding when I get home this evening). Have a look at all of this year's entries and place your vote!
