Why Do Online Comics by Iain Hamp

For about as long as I have been doing online comics, I have wanted to try my hand at a 24-hour comic (please visit this page if you are unfamiliar with the concept).

I loved the idea of it. I thought the challenge seemed like something I would enjoy. Most of all, it seemed like a sort of "trial of passage" event that every comic artist worth their salt and serious about their craft would eventually have to pass through. Finally, in November of 2003, I found an opportunity to do one.

Genericon is upon us!

Upstate Troy, NY will see some inevitably fun webcomic events on the weekend of January 16-18. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Genericon promises another year of panels and special guests, plus some new surprises. The small, intimate convention has been an annual gathering for anime, comics, and gaming fans for years. Check out some guests you can expect to see:

Sluggy Freelance and Something Positive at Ubercon II

Pete Abrams of Sluggy Freelance and Randy Milholland of Something Positive are both returning Guests of Honor at Ubercon II, a convention taking place October 17-19 at the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands Hotel in Secaucus, NJ. The convention features a mixture of comics, movies and games. Both Pete and Randy will be running various events, seminars and games, as well as judging a comic contest, over the weekend.

Hello from a Newbie

Heya - I'm Randy. Just thought I'd introduce myself *courtseys*

Scary Go Chat: An online interview with John Allison by Leah Fitzgerald

His comic has been compared to Seinfeld - and he's done a week of "crossover" strips to prove it. John Allison, the creator behind Bobbins and Scary Go Round, hasn't always had it as easy as Seinfeld. Allison ended Bobbins, hosted on KeenSpot, to move to Modern Tales with Scary Go Round.

Sluggy Freelance and Goats creators at Ubercon

Ubercon, primarily a gaming convention held in New York City, will feature Pete Abrams of Sluggy Freelance as a special guest. Along with Abrams, web comic creators Rob Balder (partiallyclips.com), Randal Milholland (somethingpositive.net), Jon Rosenberg, and Phil Karlsson (Goats) will hold a webcomics panel on Sunday Feb 16th. The panel begins at 11:00 AM and lasts for one hour. Ubercon begins on Friday the 14th at 4:00 PM lasting until Monday the 17th.

Ubercon 2003: Goats and a Homicidal Lop Rabbit
