I am in the process of starting another comic book for somebody , and my question is how much do ya charge for a book that takes you a lot of time and that runs on average 20 or thirty pages in length ,( not including covers ) I have done several and I wonder if I'm undercharging or over charging.

Re: How much do ya charge for this
Is this a for profit book? If so, are you sharing in any potential future profit?
Are you getting any of the copyright? If not, then you need to be compensated for the loss of your work.
What are your SKILLS worth? Are you bringing something to this comic that no one else can duplicate? Are you required to design any of the characters or settings?
How much of the artwork are you producing? Pencils alone? Pencils and inks?
How much do professional pencilers make at Marvel and DC? How close are your skills to theirs?
What is your TIME worth? This is the big one. You need to honestly evaluate the value of the time you will dedicate to this. If you are not getting enough money from this to compensate for the loss of time for other projects you would rather do then you will feel cheated.
This leads to a deeper thought about compensation. Money alone is not all we get for our work. Sometimes we get satisfaction for the finished product. If the project is something you WANT to do and you know they cannot afford to pay you what you are really worth then it might be all right to accept less money.
In the end, you must ask for enough financial, or other compensation, to make the effort worthwhile and to leave you feeling good at the end of it.
