Nice Work, the rat-pack era graphic novel that follows Sinatra stand-in Johnny Cat through Camelot-era Hollywood and beyond-initiates its 2nd chapter today: "Westerns 1961".
"Westerns" refers to the rat-pack film Sergeant’s Three that begins shooting in the awe-inspiring Utah landscape in spring 1961-and in which Johnny does his usual stand-in/gopher’s job. But “Westerns” also refers to the mythologizing of American history in the movies and contemporary manifestations of those myths in American misadventures abroad -- and in Spring ‘61 that means Cuba. What does Johnny’s sometime girl-friend JoJo McCormick have to do with the Bay of Pigs?
