I haven't posted a sketch in while, so I'm dumping out my sketchbook on you all.
This is a little sketch I did a few moths ago as I was developing ideas for a "Misunderstood Monsters" comic.
I'm still not sure if this joke is in good taste or not.
I've been trying to design a cover for Book One of My Life in Records if I were to print it at the conclusion of Chapter 3. The page above is little thumbnails I made of it. After doing the first on eon the top left, I decided since its a comic about music, that I'd try parodying some of my favorite albums. The trick was to find ones that were iconic and recognizable and also have three to four figures in the design.
The first one I did was Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones, but I didn't have the heart to have little kids in animal masked all mixed up with the Rolling Stones. It just seemed too edgy.
So I went on to Beatles albums. As I was browsing through them, I realized that the all had really good design and typography to them. The only problem is that the baby bunny plays a minor role in the stories, but I have to include her to make the parodies work.
From top to bottom and left to right, we have: Rubber Soul, Help, Hard Day's Night (I changed the cigarettes to lollipops), Meet the Beatles and Magical Mystery Tour.
I finally settled on Help and I'm working on doing the final image for it.
