The Webcomic Beacon #18 - Guest Strips & Fan Art
Submitted by fesworks on April 5, 2008 - 15:31
Fes, Tanya, and Aaron are in the studio, talking about Guest Strips, Fan Art, and the etiquette that should be practiced around them. We are down all of the rest of our regular contributers this week, we hope to correct that soon! Some changes are slated for the near future, out of necessity.
Webcomic Milestones: American Gothic Daily has hit over 200 strips, Girly will be hitting 5 years online, and Girl-a-Matic has hit 5 years online! Congrats!

Well, not quite. This week is the fifth anniversary of GirlAMatic, so we all did GAM birthday cards. Mine's up today!

There is also, shockingly, a new installment of The Chronicles of William Bazillion!
Happy 5th Birthday, GirlAMatic! :)

GirlAMatic is celebrating it's 5th birthday this week and most of the creators/artists involved have come up with art to celebrate the event. This is mine:
GirlAMAtic's Fifth Anniversary
Submitted by Lisa Jonte on March 30, 2008 - 23:04
From the desk of GirlAMAtic editor, Lisa R. Jonté:
Light the candles, GAM is now FIVE YEARS OLD! Hey! We're almost old enough to cross the street by ourselves!
It's been an entertaining ride these last five years. GAM has seen it's share of ups and downs and has happily been the online home of many an excellent comics creator. Sure, we've had some growing pains and toddler tantrums, but we've also had some supremely shining moments, and I wouldn't trade a minute of it for anything.

That's the way that the world goes 'round.
You're up one day and the next you're down.
It's half an inch of water and you think you're gonna drown.
That's the way that the world goes 'round.

INTERVIEWS
WARREN ELLIS
- Does anyone know when Warren Ellis' upcoming Freak Angels is going to debut? UPDATE: Wow - that was almost psychic - Warren Ellis in a post to his email list this morning said the webcomic would launch in February 2008.
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 BLOGS
- The Comics Reporter reviews a recent Cul-De-Sac comic. This new/old strip by Washington Post illustrator Richard Thompson is quite good. Thompson brings to the comic years of experience creating comics for the Washington Post Sunday magazine. (You can read it online here.)
- Journalista! points to a review of the new Marvel DCU comics service in the LA Times.
- There is one of those "let's pretend we're not telling anyone about our million dollar web campaign" kind of marketing campaign going on for the next Batman movie.

GirlAMatic.com - quick note
Submitted by Von Allan on November 26, 2007 - 11:40
Just a quick note of clarification (mainly because I'm extremely thick sometimes):
"The road to god knows..." will not be updating four days per week on GirlAMatic. Instead, four pages will update every Monday. This is totally my fault for the misunderstanding. So, to be clear: there will still be four pages of RTGK-goodness, but just one day per week - Monday! :)
