We need a guideline or a policy regarding copyright violation. When it come to copyright violation, it is pretty much free for all. It is either deleting the contents, editing the contnets, based on that adiminstrator's judgement (Which is mostly me).
We need a standarized policy on what to do if there is a suspected copyright violation so it won't be a free for all.
BTW, I found an article that is suspected of violating copyright law. http://comixpedia.org/index.php/The_Dreamland_Chronicles
Heres an email I just sent
Heres an email I just sent to Scott that other SYSOPs could adapt to use:
Scott
Thanks for creating an entry for your webcomic. There are problems with you entry: http://comixpedia.org/index.php/The_Dreamland_Chronicles
The entries on the Comixpedia wiki must be submitted under the GNU license. That doesn't reach your webcomic - but the text submitted must be submitted under the GNU license. You therefore can't claim (c) on the entry itself which your current entry does by including the (c) line at the end. There are also some rules on how to post images so as to avoid (c) issues for our site. Please let me know if you can act to revise the entry within 2-3 days. Otherwise we will work to remove any (c) issues we perceive (the wiki is continously editable so if you cannot respond in 2-3 days you may of course further revise the entry in the future).
Some guidelines on entries at Comixpedia.org:
1. The GNU license applies to entries at Comixpedia.org. That doesn't reach the webcomic but does cover the text submitted for the wiki entry.
2. Our image policy.
IMAGES ON COMIXPEDIA.ORGWe have not yet adopted a means to upload images to our server, but we have decided to allow creators to hotlink to images hosted offsite so long as (1) it is the creator(s), i.e. the copyright holder of the image; and (2) the image is hosted in a subdirectory called "comixpedia" (it can be a subdirectory of the main URL or another directory). The subdirectory requirement is purely administrative as it makes it easier for us to police against misuse of this policy.
3. The Clan of the Cats page is a model for entries should look like.

Contact Creators When Obvious
When we have a situation like this (or really anytime there's a (c) Issue) our first action should be to contact the creator with a polite note informing them of:
1. The GNU license for entries at Comixpedia.org. That doesn't reach their webcomic but does cover the text submitted for the wiki entry.
2. Our image policy.
3. Point them to the Clan of the Cats page to model their entry over what will be our standard template.
I am emailing Scott about the Dreamland entry now. I would give creators about 2-3 days to respond and then I think we would need to revise the entry as appropriate to eliminate any possible (c) issues.
