June Update

Hello web denizens,
Balticon is done already. Can you believe it? Those were four fantastically short days. I didn't get to meet Neil Gaiman, however, I did meet Marc Hempel, the artist on Sandman and Lucifer as well as Mad Magazine. In the up coming months I will be featured on two pod casts. More details on that as I find out more.

So, as luck would have it, I got nominated for my first serious award, the N3F or Neffys as they are called and I didn't find out until after the awards were given out. This weekend at Baycon they supposedly announced the winners of the Neffys. I will announce the winner as soon as I know. However, here's the dirt I do have:

I was nominated for a 2006 N3F (National Fantasy Fan Federation) award for best Fan Artist. Nominees are: Lynn Masamitsu, Marc Schirmeister, Steve Stiles, J Andrew World, and Hugo award winner Frank Wu.

I just wrapped up the first of what I hope to be many art classes. If you missed it, that is ok. I figured out my mistakes and this summer will be Science Fiction & Fantasy Illustration v2.0. First there is a free session at the Howard County Central Library running June 13th through 15th. Then June 22nd I will be back at Cosmic Comix; 8 weeks for $100, I provide in-class art supplies. Look for flyers in the Baltimore area.

Attending conventions is not cheap and although I am often a guest, I still have travel and accommodations expenses to contend with. So that means I have to scrimp and save. That means I need you to buy swag or even make the odd donation at my paypal account. If you donate $10, I will send you an autographed print; a $25 donation will land you an original sketch; and $50, a black and white piece. Also, don't forget to visit my webstore.

***IN PRINT***

Issue 14 of Nth Degree is out now, it's very purple! Johnny Eponymous wrote a nonfiction piece that is very amusing, and there are several other pieces of fiction that are great reads. Issue 15 will be out after Ravencon.

A small volume of short stories called Mazes by Michail Velichansky is out. Velichansky is a talented young writer whom I know you will hear more about in the future. I did the cover for this great collection of stories! If you would like a copy of this book, please send me $5 with $2 shipping & handling.

If you would like a copy of the James R. Stratton book, Mens Rea, please send me $5 with $2 shipping & handling. Mens Rea is a collection of short stories. My favorite stories are "Meatbag" and "Damn Near Dead."
