Looking for advice.

Hey there guys, i don't think i've ever made an actual post on these forums before, have i?
Well, i come seeking advice, it has nothing to do with comics(I'm currently in the process of restarting my own webcomic again) but more about personal decisions.
A little information on myself, first.
I'm 17 years old, i live in the United Kingdom, West Yorkshire, just this year my parents split up, my mum has met someone new and wants to move to a different part of the country to be with him.
Now my advice that i am seeking here is ...what should i do? Should i go with her to another part of the country, keep working full time and earning enough money to get my own place and then just keep scraping by?
Should i look around at colleges locally to where she will be living? Looking at colleges close to here where i can find accomadation?
One of the things i am really considering is moving to the US, but thanks to all the rules, regulations and laws in place it is incredibly difficult to just move there, get a job and work and live over there. If anyone has successfully done this i would be happy to listen to them and talk to them about it, as this is what i would want to do most.
Another thing i was interested in was moving to an american college or university, has anyone done this? Can they suggest any colleges that are particularly well known for their international students? I aren't sure what i would want to study exactly, maybe some graphic design stuff, some English, maybe some Art classes to give some help to my "Skills".
Most of all i am looking for people who have experience the same kind of thing, and have taken the oppurtunity to move to another country, how easy was it? etc etc.
Thanks for reading.

I recommend that you stick with your mom, save up some money cause you are gonna need it for what ever you ultimately decide to do. If you come to the US via schools make sure to look up and attach yourself to as many scholarships that you possibly can.
