Yes, Malach has decided to have yet another blog for his rantings, ravings, and various other forms of nonsense. Hide your horses and lock up your women.
I have several things to say, and I will even touch on webcomics, most specifically the webcomic as an industry. But first . .
Hydrogen Power
It is plainly obvious fossil fuels, and fossil fuel consumption is the downfall of man. No matter what psuedo-scientists companies like Exxon pull out of their buttocks (this remind anyone else of the cigarette companies in the 60's, 70's, and 80'?), there is no denying the world is getting warmer, and getting warmer at a greater exponential rate than ever before. Examing the last 150 years, humanity has spewed up more harmful gasses, debris, and detrius, into our atmosphere than Krakatoa ever did. Even Dubya recognizes the crisis looming (too bad he doesn't recognize the one in our economy) and has stated repeatedly "all y'all 'Mericans and buncha oil junkies". Of course, you can't find a solution from his mouth. So what is the solution?
Well one is Hydrogen vehicles. Hydrogen is readily abundant, just look at water. Basic chemistry tells us water in made from 2 hyrdrogen atoms. So how do you split water? Simply via electrolysis. Now people would argue it requires quite a bit of electricty to create Hydrogen, which in turn pollutes, but the you can use the electricity from 2 windmills to create the Hydrogen; clean easy wind power. You pump it into you car, and viola, you have a vehicle that drives just as your heavy combustion beast, producing no more than drinkable water as an exhaust, and producing excess energy while parked, to put back into things like your home.
People would also argue that Hydrogen is dangerous! Um, we using gasoline right now, which is just as dangerous if not more.
We need to support this now, this is not something you throw away!
The Death of the Comic Book Industry, and the upcoming Webcomic Golden Age.
Print comics are not long for this world. If you look at the Big Two, Marvel and DC, they no longer make their money in comic books. Try to run a Comic Book shop as a viable business (yeah without laughing). I grew up in the 80's and 90's, the time when you could make money from print comics. I ran a independent label during my college years, and it did not make me rich, but it was better than working at K-Mart.
Marvel and DC now make their money in liscensing and Movies. Comic books are slowly dying, but there is hope. The hope is the internet.
Marvel and DC, this is what you need to do to make you comic lines viable again. You need to go to web only content with once a year annuals reprinting the years worth of web based comics. You charge $15.95 a month, for unlimited access to all titles, and charge $50 bucks for the annual. Look to the porn industry for answers, the money is not is magazines, it is in the internet.
So then what does this mean for webcomics? It make charging for them a viable option. So imagine if you will Marvel and DC are web only, at $16 a month. Why could not say independent companies spout up, offering the same serivice for cheaper? Get the big 10 webcomics together under one banner, and charger $8.95 a month. From there scoop all sort of titles, offer readers the choice of 200 webcomic titles for that $8.95 a month.
It is the future, get ready for it. Soon the world's most dangerous bug will come.
I am Malach, and I am the future of webcomics, porn, and alternative fuels sources

Well, if you wanna talk politics....
Couple thoughts. Firstly, it is worth noting that even within the time frame of our species existence, much less the planets existence, the tempature has change more quicker than the current man caused change we are facing. The far right wants you to over sell the threat, because if you exaggerate clearly everything you say is wrong. Secondly, I would hop on the hydrogen band wagon right away. Most CO2 in the atmosphere comes from power plants and industry not cars, so what we really need are non fossil fuel power sources. Probably a combination of solar, nuclear, wind, and wave power. If we can make that cheap, cars will follow. Trying to fuel all our cars on wind powered hydrogen would be unrealistic, I think. Certainly too expensive for me to afford. And we should also remember even if we adopt the most draconian, economy wrecking CO2 caps imaginable we aren't going to be able to stop this thing, so we need plans to mitigate the negative affects and quickly exploit the positive ones.
As far as your mainstream comics idea goes, I would happily pony up 50 bucks, or even 75, for unlimited access to marvel titles over a years time. But I am not sure this model would work for everyone.
Agree with most of this, but
Agree with most of this, but there are studies that indication car exhaust make up about 60% of the pollutants effecting our atmosphere. A world leader needs to step in and say by 2012 or somthing, all combustion vehicles are now illegal for things to change.
As for you second thought, if the only option was web based comics, what would you do then?
Well....

Whoops accidently double posted
Threat is big enough
Maybe, but man-made change is likely to go far further. Extensive melting of the ice-caps would be a new thing in human history. The worst of it is that the people likely to get it earliest and hardest are the people who are the least responsible for it.
You wanna see big, I got big for ya......

I don't see how you'd get
I don't see how you'd get the top ten webcomics under one banner. Most are doing well enough on their own not to bother. And I suspect Scott Kurtz and the boys over at Penny Arcade, arguably the biggest players in webcomics, would rather keep their own traffic and not dilute it among a collective. Plus, what would they have to gain from such a move that would equal what they would stand to lose?
And I agree with erg. Solar, wind, water power should all be exploited as soon as possible to cut industrial power plant emissions.

You pay them them, make it
You pay them them, make it worth their while to switch, and allow them to retain liscencing rights for their intellectual product, make their own stores, etc.
You might be right, the only interaction i have ever had with Kurtz is to see him whine and moan.
But imagine is you will say take: MegaTokyo, PVP, CTRL-ALT-DEL, Scary Go Round, and a few others, plus hundreds of lesser known comics, put them together in one package, and then sold it for say $3.95 per month. How much money could be made?

Hydrogen fuel cells are a pipe dream which are the invention of auto/oil industry propaganda. Go check out "Who Killed The Electric Car" which is out on DVD.
