Get Rejected For Rocket Pirate?

NightgigTim's picture

Just in time for Talk Like a Pirate Day - Reject Pirate!

Did The Dread Pirate Ellis not like the cut o' yer jib? Did your work get rejected for berth on the good ship "Rocket Pirate"? If your webcomic walked the plank, contact us and add your webcomic to the crew of the Reject Pirates! Yar!

Reject Pirate is just a hub of sorts, listing as many of the webcomics rejected for inclusion in RocketPirate.com as possible. We have several options:

  • We will link to your current website
  • Link to your forum or we can provide a forum and even provide hosting.

It's all for fun! We just noticed a lot of really talented people being overlooked, and thought a list of those webcomics might be a good idea!

Uhm, both, actually.

Uhm, both, actually.

That is, a list of accepted comics has been posted (on the-engine.net and a few comic-news blogs which picked it up and reposted it), and he has been sending out rejections (short and simple ones -- someone else in this thread pretty much quoted it verbatim).

If you haven't heard one way or the other yet, be patient, and remember he had to cut off submissions because he was getting hundereds of them and needed to catch up. If you submitted your work closer to the day he shut it off instead of closer to the day he orignally announced he was open for submissions, it may still be a while.

In the mean time, I guess you can cross your fingers and hope, as there might be an addtion to the list if he finds one in the remaining pile waiting for his review. You could also find the list and see if you got onto it without knowing.

thanks for the info!i

thanks for the info!

i submitted on the second or third day after he opened submissions so i don't think the cutoff date was the problem. I'm just always paranoid that when there's things that don't send out an automated 'your email has been recieved' thing that maybe it got eaten by the internet somehow... i don't know :P

i did see a copy of that list though, if it's the one that's been floating around since late August. i'll check the engine to see if it's been updated.

If his decision-making

If his decision-making process is anything like mine, he's rejecting in stages. He has over 600 submissions for 40 slots. I'm guessing not everyone will hear back at once.

The rejected *and* the spurned?

Heh, heh. So, do you accept comics that were outside his submission criteria (superheroes, frex), so they never even bothered to apply? :)

Just curious -- I'm not looking to move anywhere.Â

Your welcome to be a reject

Your welcome to be a reject pirate. Not being included sounds like being rejected to me. No moving needed. It's more of a webring as it is.

Inspiring!

When the Rocket Pirate announcement happened, it spurred me to actually consider promoting my webcomic, which previously wasn't meant for public eyes but only created to scare prying relatives away from my personal website.

So I cranked out dozens of panels, sent a notice to the Internet Jeeesis, and was thrilled by the swift, friendly reply!

"Not for me, but thanks.

-- W"

Since then I have not washed my Gmail account. It has grown black and crusty with love.

I immediately thought of doing something like "Reject Pirates", but I had enough to chew on already, and figured someone else would get around to it.

Now they have! And I salute you Reject Pirates! Way to go! Collect them webcomics! Round 'em up and roll 'em out!

And don't forget to include my awful submission, which on one hand will taint your credibility and purity of motive, but on the other will make everyone else's webcomic look awesome by comparison!

One problem though. Your submissions page is giving me trouble. I tried to get my entry through multiple times and got no confirmation. Also I had to reload often to get an image confirmation I could actually read. That "freecap" thing is horrible. You need to get a better one.

My comic URL is

http://www.allofmymistakes.com/sidewaysvagina/

I would like to be on your website and down your pants. My comic is a hobby, not a moneything, and I want people to look at it so they will barf sexily. I always update and always will. Die Mieze!
