Why don't they check your signature on when you sign a credit card receipt? Maybe they shouldn't even bother with requiring a signature anymore - Zug put this theory to the test in this piece, complete with pictures of ridiculous signatures from his prank. (An earlier credit card prank is a funny read too.)

Amusing. I may have the solution though. The signature area on my bank card has worn off over time. What was once legible is completely not there anymore. Now, I occasionally get clerks to ask me for my ID to prove I'm me because the back of my card has been violated.
