That is a really strong group of candidates for Outstanding Comic, including last year's Outstanding Newcomer winner (Gunnerkrigg Court). I haven't read all of the nominees for Outstanding Newcomer for this year - that's probably just more evidence of how many webcomics there are now...

I'm utterly quite shocked Grumps didn't get a nomination for Outstanding Newcomer to be honest. There's been quite a lot of newcomers but... I don't know...
I'm also shocked there is still no category for Webcomic Books. Maybe I should do one....
Books is an interesting idea
A book category is an interesting idea although for such a category it might have to be handled differently as not every nominating member would own and/or have access to every book out there. As it is it's very difficult to see every webcomic out there but at least in theory you could do so.

If the WCCA claim to be an advocate for web comics, shouldn't they be supportive when creators try to push the boundaries of the medium?
Then again, it's not the Web Cartoonists (and Books!) Choice Awards. I suppose you can argue it both ways.
