there was a report in x-press... (once underground, now a 'sanitized' local underground freebie mag... yes, they're rejected my stuff already thanks)
on the canadian domiance of the comic book industry. Front page effort plugging a local book)
ha. crap. I'm betting. Right up there with JAZZ being the only NA culture contribution, right?
betcha it's the usual tired stories about shuster and superman... minus the hooker story? Mad et al, scooping up rights?
pure c-hype? x-men, spiderman (mcfarlane.. once spiderman + now spawn) all once (and gonna-be?) canadian efforts? dave + cerebus?
aha! current studios in Tronto + van and their efforts?
ala absolute rights being bought, etc.
another (Smelly) load, i'm betting. A recent fed book didn't interview ANYONE not getting grants... mostly femmes these days, thou any immigrant had better chance than i do of getting one..
maybe the stock-feud that ate marvel and diamond, making the california explosion and the collapse of comics in general since?
bah. Another 'jewish money, irish writers and german directors' Hollywood story there. except it's a brit invasion.
web-comics? from userfriendly to montreal's desperate attempts to defraud the software industry, the boston-NY cultural corridor and anyone with money?
Naw. This'll be a flag waver. santized. relying on ad money and THAT influence on the art.
what would I like to see? Web-comics doing for canadian web-comics what farinhite 9-11 did for northvan films.
ie: ostrasied, but thriving (from the curret elite.)
so i can't spell. or sell. see? saw 'the day after tomorrow' last night.. right up till scene 16 when the dvd crapped out.
hey, i don't rent. Or downlaod. I BUY... used, natch.
The movie gets the 'undersocailized geek' award for science accuracey. As far as i know, THAT"S exactly what's due to happen. (quibble about northern counterclock wize upper atmospere thingies growing over england and LA aside.
My dvd DIED on scene 16, attempting to phone home.
ack. Some one is trying to tell me something here.
