What's Your Amazon Rank?

So many webcomics into print nowadays it got me to wondering how some of them are doing sales-wise. One metric that is easy to pull is a book's ranking on Amazon.com's sales list. This website actually makes it extremely easy to find out a ranking based on author, title, publisher or ISBN number.

Plug in Howard Tayler's name, for example, and you'll see his Schlock Mercenary books (currently 194,385 and 195,437) are doing much better than his Administering Groupwise tome. Laughing

Re: What's Your Amazon Rank?

Oh, but Howard, not all of us can be comic book artists! What are the rest of us GroupWise Administrators going to be when we grow up? Huh? I have tried my hand at a few things. One of my current projects is helping people sleep at night (www.restrite.com) but I still make my living doing GroupWise projects. One of these days I'll come up with the right thing, but for now, GroupWise is my world! :-) Glad to hear your comic books are doing so well!

I should hope they're doing better. My GroupWise book is seven years old, and details a version of the product that is something like four releases behind the current one.

That book was a way for me to see if I could actually follow through on a big project, and get my name in a place where my company would put me in charge of something. They did. For the four years following publication of "Administering GroupWise 5.5" I was the product manager of GroupWise, and saw it through to the 6.0 and 6.5 releases.

Mostly, though, I'm happy that particular chapter in my life has drawn to a close...
