Hey all, it's been a while.
First of all, if you didn't already know (I've been blathering about it on my personal LJ), Zombies Calling is done. Hurrah! Celebrations!... and also a little bit of sadness... but I'm happy with it, and I hope you guys will be too, those of you who buy it (please do! I worked ever so hard on it!). I think it'll be out November 14th (barring accidents or Diamond being goofy). If the date changes I'll let you know. If you're one of those awesome folks that would like to support my comic-making endeavours, you can do so by ordering Zombies Calling. You can pre-order it on Amazon (links to the comic on amazon.ca/amazon.com), ask for it at your local book store or Chapters (thanks to ZC having an ISBN number, book stores can carry it, which is really cool), or, if you're in the Halifax area, wait and buy it from me, as I think I've convinced one of the local comic stores (Strange Adventures) to have a signing for it. They were really nice to me when I approached, hat in hand and quivering like jell-o, to ask if they'd support my little book. Anyway, when that gets confirmed, I'll be sure to yell about it here. Anyone who read this live in the Halifax area?
Also, SLG has posted a longer preview of Zombies Calling on their webpage. Instead of the older preview of pages 6-15, you can now see pages 1-15 in all their glory. Enjoy! I still kind of love that first page, even if the art looks older to me now.
And now I'm on to... well, I don't know yet. I'm waiting (sigh) to hear back from some folks, so hopefully I will soon, and I can dive back into doing the thing that brings me much joy (and wristache), making comics.
In the meantime, I've started work on Ice again. I hope to update next week with a handful of pages, in which Cirr and Hunter have an intimidating conversation. This particular scene I've written and re-written so many times, I think I've gone blind. I hope it passes inspection. Also, my art has really frigging evolved over the course of drawing Zombies Calling, and Hunter and Cirr look a bit like strangers to me... I am unnerved, somewhat. But also mildly pleased. If you're not evolving, you're dead. Or a perfect artist, like Claire Wendling or Jeff Smith or something, but I'm really not them. Alas. But maybe I'll get close some day.
