I won a Shuster Award! and other cool things.

A bit of a non-update update. First of all, what has two thumbs, knows limited French and just won a Shuster Award? THIS MOI. *points thumbs at herself* ... that probably doesn't work very well in text. But yeah, oh wonder of great wonders, I won the "Favourite Canadian Comic Book Creator - English Language Publication" division, otherwise known as the popular vote, so I just wanted to give everyone who voted for me a shout out and big ol' THANK YOU. I really appreciate all your support, I do.

Otherwise, as I mentioned on my personal blog, I am going to San Diego Comicon in July. So if you're going and want to say hi and get your book signed and maybe a sketch, then please do so! I'm sure SLG will be setting up signing times, so I'll let you know what's going on closer to the con.

Since Ice is still hiatus-ed (god, so busy, so sorry), I thought I would show you a little thing I did early in the year. A while back I noticed Del Rey Manga had an open submission notice, so I took a week off working on my *ahem* paying stuff and pounded out a submission. Of course I never heard back, but that's the way it is with these things. You stab around wildly and if you're lucky you hit something. But most of the time you don't. Anyway, whatever. I thought you guys might like to see the sequentials I did, since they're kind of fun.

The story's a weird one I had brewing for a while, about a young woman working in a pretty boring office job, and her weird office-mates. Only thing is, she's kind of dead, and the office is a sorting house for various dead people. And then wacky hijinks ensue. It was very influenced by Bryan Fuller, with a touch of The Office. The story also contained my first non-white main character, who eventually ends up in an inter-racial, inter-species relationship with a demon girl. Anyway, click here to see the pitch I put together. The working title was Afterlife Inc, but I noticed there's another book called Afterlife, so ... eh. Guess that'll end up being changed eventually.

Now, of course, I can't really do much with it as I'm so busy and working on my new book for SLG, and then there's supposed to be stuff following that ... but I like this story, so hopefully I'll be able to return to it someday. If you want to leave feedback, you're welcome too, of course.
