Comic website growth opens new doors for other creators.

Gutterflycomix.com has gone through many changes in the four years since its inception, but Gutterfly's founders are letting us know that those changes are only the beginning. Video games, a public comics listing, and a new server are all in the works for this pop-culture comics hub.
Visual artist Thomas Clemmons lets us know that, "For now, all of the games we have up ... we link to from other sites, but soon we plan on developing games with characters and story plots from our own comics as well."
GutterflyComix.com provides a listing of other comics alongside its own flagship titles. The listed comics receive the same marketing benefits that the mainstay comics receive on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Venues for marketing include the front page of the website, monthly marketing outlets (such as a monthly newsletter), and other venues, like major comic book conventions. "At conventions, we go all out, giving away CD's with all of our listed comics linked on them," adds Clemmons. The listing service is currently in beta testing, but in time, everyone who wants to will be able to list their comics on Gutterflycomix.com.
As this program grows, so too will the benefits being offered, such as free promotional products, marketing, and webcomics hosting. In January of 2005, Gutterflycomix.com will move to a larger, more expansive server that will allow the hosted comics to provide fans with even more features while sharing the crossover traffic of thousands of people on a monthly basis.
After four years of constant trial and error, Gutterflycomix.com has moved from a small online comics-only website into a self styled pop-culture hub and fledgling promotions company. In addition to online comics, the site offers art tutorials, free downloads and a merchandise store.
