Yes we did.

I'm still trying to process how I feel.
We've lived through so many dark days and dark days-after in our lifetimes. I experienced the Loma Prieta earthquake in San Francisco; I watched stunned as war creeped into my lifetime on television as Kuwait was bombed; I was in New York City on September 11. I've experienced personal tragedies and listened, horrified, to stories of others'. Waking up on Day Two after a tragedy always comes with a sense of numbness, a secret wish that it was all a dream and everything has been reset to Normal.
Yesterday was one of the Good Days. The whole world watched as the whole world changed.
And today so many people woke up hoping it wasn't just a dream, that this was real, that last night something happened to signal forward momentum, steer us in a better direction, help us mend our wounded pride. And it did. I suppose in the middle of the night, something could have changed or been re-considered or rewritten on account of a mistake. But it didn't. Last night is still real today.
We voted for hope, and we can't let it end there. I woke up today, hopeful, and ready to work hard and listen well and spread goodwill. It started yesterday. It continues today. Let's keep it going tomorrow.
