Vassie is pretty bummed right now.  Paul and I are completely trapped here in Sawyer, ND.  The roads are impassible.  The school buses are not running, so the town has no immediate need to plow the roads.  HWY 83 is open, but the county roads are still buried underneath giant snow drifts.  To make matters worse, my phone does not work, so I have to use Paul's minutes.  I am really hoping that I am not stuck here on my birthday, as that would really suck and I would probably have to forfeit my base pay due to breach of contract on my end.  Everyday we remain trapped here, I'm losing a minimum of $160 a day that I really cannot afford to lose (especially since I have to pay an advance and wanted to help a friend out.)  I am even more anxious because I have to catch a train home on Sunday.  I feel bad for Paul, because he's taking this mess very personally.  However, it's not like he can control the weather.

On the positive side, Paul made me a nice homemade cake for an early birthday celebration.  He sadly told me that it was supposed to be a surprise from him and Candy for the whole club to share in tomorrow.  He was almost in tears when he told me about it.  The gesture was touching and bittersweet.  I am so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life.

All I really want for my birthday is to be able to get out of this mess somehow.  If anyone knows of someone with a snowplow near here, please send me an email at vanesaATvaslittlecrowDOTcom or leave a reply here.    I would be very grateful if someone could help us.  No phone calls, because I won't be able to get them until Monday.
