Creator Update - Handy Publicity Tool

Alexander Danner just used his creator news update to post a bit about the end of his recent PST story. I will probably need to draw attention to these updates until readers get used to scanning down there, but I think this will be a key part of the site in 2006 allowing creators to post anything they think worth sharing with the readers of Comixpedia. In my mind, this "replaces" the old hype forum at Comixpedia.

The news update allows for html so you can add in links to your work - the only limit is 254 characters.

Hey, how does one claim their entry again?

Fetus-X is the greatest comic in the world.

Eric there is already an entry for you in the library so here's how you'd do that (it'd be a little different if no entry already existed).

1. You need to apply to and I rubberstamp you into the Creator Group at Comixpedia (that process is in the Community part of the site) - the site has a group function that let's me give groups things that others can't get at. For you though I just went ahead and did that on the admin side so skip this step.

2. Go to your creator entry and click on "Claim This Profile As Yours" at the bottom of it. I'll get a notice, make sure it looks legit and then approve. I let you know and that's it. (If you're not in the Creator Group you can't see the "Claim This Profile" link)

3. After that you can access your "Creator Dashboard" through the bottom of your entry or through your "My Account" page (there's a link at the top of the site) when you're logged in. The dashboard lets you add a new news update for yourself, add and edit webcomics and put them on and off the top list.

Hope that makes sense! :)

Hmm. I got an email saying I have access to the Creator group, but I can't find my name under "G" or "C" so I can't claim my profile.

Am I doing something wrong?

I think I found the prob. :-)

Gary - I see you just submitted an entry for yourself to the library which I approved. You should now be able to access your dashboard (through your entry filed under C or through your account page) and update your update. Please let me know if you run into any problems. Thanks!

It IS a great tool.

It'd be greater if I could preview what I just wrote... Unless that's some crazy "visual mode" only thing, which I keep getting asked about whenever I start to type.

But still: Great tool!

No - I can do that - just have to write the code. I'm going to add a preview and an edit function to the update soon. Plus I'll add instructions that its limited to 254 characters and you can use html in it.

That was me not logged in - xerexes

Have you signed up for the creators group? Go to the GROUPS page under the COMMUNITY link and apply. When you're in you'll see the links you need.
