The To-do List for Comixpedia
Submitted by Xaviar Xerexes on April 5, 2006 - 18:03
Just so you all know how many things are duct-taped together and what I'm wasting time trying to fix... :)
To Do
1. Fix code for putting your webcomic on the toplist (slogan replaces desc.)
2. Claim fix needed for suggestion form.
3. New toplist buttons (w/integrated statistics)
4. Better preview function for creator update
5. Tweaks to theme layout (CP02)
6. Add Time to CDATE for updates.
7. Add secondary order Artid to articles listings. (Plus add date to admin).
8. Make IRC home page - link to channel(s) plus what is IRC (w/link to mIRC).
9. Add Buttons to top list box on home page.
10. Improve mySQL to PHP date/time translation
11. New mag article date add automatically to internal related links
Done
1. Easier way to edit creator updates
2. Instructions for how to join the toplist
3. problem with editing webcomics thru dashboard
4. Problem with link to dashboard from user.php?
5. Fixed Magazine Block

Preview Problems
by Xaviar Xerexes - 01/07/2006 - 23:23
I can't get a consistent experience with preview problems both for the forums and for the submit news function. They most likely are related to some anti-hacker code in Postnuke but I haven't really come up with a good answer. The preview functions do seem to work most of the time however (I'm not really sure what the % of bad experiences are).

Just to be clear I'm not going to do anything myself to set up an IRC channel myself. If someone else does and tells me about it I'll put up links to it here.

It's been up for a few days now.. I was wondering why it hadn't been mentioned yet, I guess you didn't notice.
It's not very full at the moment (just me, in fact) but it has had up to five souls, and some pretty USEFUL (rare on IRC!) banter going on. We just crave some legitimacy.

I did miss it! I put up a link at the top of the Community page and I'll let folks know about it on the front page tonight or tomorrow. I have to download something to try it out now.
Next I will (should!) make a "home page" here for it as opposed to a direct link like that - a lot of folks could stand a brief here's what IRC is and here's a few programs you could get so that when they click on the link it actually works. Were the programs listed in the other thread - mIRC probably the ones to recommend a beginner to download?
Also this home page could probably list some other interesting webcomic-related channels too.

I agree with the point about the "home page"... I don't think the link in the Community section will get noticed by many people, it's a bit on the quiet side. As for beginner programs, mIRC ( http://www.mirc.com/ ) works fine, though can appear daunting at first. But once it's installed, all you have to do is click the link, so that should work. The Firefox plugin someone else mentioned seems to be popular as well... probably even a bit easier to use.
But yeah, overall the channel is on life support now, so any life is a good thing. Some of the discussion I've seen in there has been marvelous and constructive, and I've met some very cool people and read some interesting work. Even more of the same thing cannot be a bad thing.
