I find the comixpedia front page a little too busy. There's the navigation at the top, the top ad, the side ads, two columns of contents which in turn are divided into their own parts...
I'm looking at sites like 1up.com, and I'm wondering why their sites don't feel as crowded -- they have top and side ads too, after all. Perhaps it's more effective to use thumbnails for each headlines/ articles/ etc., as opposed to having one "cover image" for the magazine up there? Or maybe we need more white space. More breathing room. I'm not quite sure.
Sorry for complaining and having no real answers. But if we put our heads together, I'm sure we could come up with something...
I have to agree. It does seem a little too busy.
I think perhaps if the articles were seperated it wouldn't look like they were all crammed together into one paragraph.
One simple fix that would make a big difference.
One thing that could be done is put more padding between the text and the bounding boxes. I know it sounds trivial But it would relieve some tension. The text looks like it is trying to excape causing the site to look bunched and busy.

I like the new layout of the cover-art.
A smaller size cover art on the front page just didn't look right. I should have changed it back sooner. Also I did try to pad the boxes on the front page more - not sure if anyone noticed.
I did and I likes it better.
If you're looking for new trouble, the grey headline text inside the red tables on the 'News and Views' page is really hard to read.
I agree with everyone it is better. Although I am not sure what is better....
