I've actually been reading comixpedia for quite some time, I feel a bit guilty for spilling my guts here looking for advice and so I'm trying to balance the self-absorbed by discussing a little and paying attention to others. Ironically that leads to a kind of self-absorbed activity: introduction. I didn't introduce myself when I joined the forum, when I almost but didn't reply to some interesting threads at the new year. I've been reading comixpedia for 3 years and have seen people really get ripped up here, I'm kinda hoping to tiptoe in and out before that happens to me.
So here you go. I write and draw a comic you have likely never heard of, and if what I read is accurate, likely never will (unless you click the www button, but that's cheating). I'm a fan of The Tick, pretty much anything Ben Edlund is even tangentially involved in, Boy on a Stick and Slither, Anywhere But Here, Teen Girl Squad & Peasant Quest, By the Wayside, and I just don't get what the big deal is about Girl Genius. I have a violent allergy to manga, something I developed over the last year. I have zero credentials except the fact that I've been drawing for a few years and trying for the last 3 to suss out the best ways to go about delivering what I have to say. But I like to talk theory anyhow, I find it really interesting even if I do end up talking out of pure speculation.
I have an irrational drive to (someday in the mythical future) refinance my rocket car (they promised us rocket cars) for the money to create a small-time publishing company out of the little LLC set up to deal with our expenses and liability shield (talk about religion, and you are immediately advised to put up a shield). I have three zombies at my site that keep me from falling apart too badly to keep drawing. It's a full time job.
Y'all intimidate the hell out of me, I've only spoken to any of you before this when I got het up about the pay-comics issue, but so far I've met some great people, so, umm, hello.
*this is not a request to promote/evaluate my work, I'm not in a good place for that right now. This is just because it felt discourteous not to make any sort of introduction when the Coffee Haus asks you to :)
belated hello

Howdy! Feel free to get fired up on any topic! Talking about making comics is akin to talking about politics and religion, so it can get heated up at times. But it's just so much fun, too.
