that fetus-x ad on the banner rotation... I'm all for freedom of expression and all that, so I'm not saying you should take it down... But on a personally note, that ad immediately turns me off to visiting that site... and possibly any other site that's affiliated with it... just my $0.02

Yes, I am a little disturbed by the ad, and also by the strip. Having said that, I make sure to read it every week, because it's (usually) a superb strip. It's not often I deliberately allow myself to be made uncomfortable, but its worth it for what I get out of Fetus X.
As for the effectiveness of the ad, I guess Serializer.net is aiming for an edgy, alternative readership who are not likely to let their squeamishness get the better of them. Personally, I wouldn't follow up on it, and if I didn't already read the comic, this would put me off doing so.
