I'm looking for a way to create a "color mixing" effect in my pictures as if two pigments were mixed. The specific effect I'm trying to create is blood soaked into and running over different materials. The blood is not completely opaque so the different materials (yellow blouse, gray concrete, blue and gray camoflage patterened uniform) mix in with it. The various blend modes that seem to be available to me don't seem to quite match what I want to do.
Suggestions? I'm asking because I'm not particularly happy with the blood effects either in today's update or the chapter two "cover" from a couple weeks ago.

When Photoshop can't mix colours the way you want it to, you have to do things the old fashioned way and just pick the colours that look right to you.
I usually create a 20% shadow layer for general purpose shading, but to get a pleasing shadow on skin I have to manually select a colour that looks right.
That's what I was afraid of. Blood on camoflage is going to be a pain.
