ComixPress Booked: Any Other Options

Fabricari's picture

Hi y'all. Apologies for lurking more than posting, but I had a question. And sorry in advance if it's been addressed already:

I'm looking foward to printing the fist chapter of my web comic as a print comic to hand out at a local convention (Mid-Ohio Con). I like the quality and low print run capability of ComixPress.com. However, it would seem they're booked right now. And may not be available in time to get books for the convention.

I also like their online shop where I can send readers to buy the books without having to set up a shop myself.

It's not a major problem, but I was wondering what my other options are out there. Any recommendations or news on ComixPress's turnarounds?

Edit: I titled this wrong, I meant ComixPRESS. D'oh

RE: ComixPress Booked: Any Other Options

Hmm, I just checked Comixpress out and they're still closed for business. I hope it's not hurting anyone who was depending on them. I guess I'll be looking into using LuLu. I know Kris of Starslip Crisis just printed with them, but has anyone else had experience with Lulu? Are you happy with the books? The prices? I went through their interface, and it seems pretty solid on the surface.

Lulu makes very nice books, but their prices are a little high if you want to do large color collections of actual comic books. You might want to look into the SPA on Dimstoreproductions.com ( http://dimestoreproductions.com/SPA/ ) their prices are comparable to Comixpress

There's also Cafepress if you need quick black and whites. Saddle stitched and perfect bound. Their baseprice is pretty high but you do get a discount if you buy in bulk.

There are plenty of print-on-demand places, if you can afford a print run of 100 or so books.

Look them up in your local yellow pages.
