Tuesday Round Up of Webcomic News

Tym Godek has a review of the journal webcomic Surely Functional by Greg Kornbluh & Ramsey Ford.

T Campbell needs you to take the Clickwheel Users Survey.  Clickwheel is the iPod comics service.

Paul Gadzikowski used to do a journal comic - who knew?

Jon Rosenberg notes that the horrible murder-cannibal guy that just got arrested .  Nobody tell Jack Thompson, okay?

A little late but the Flight blog has some photos from the recent APE convention in SF, CA.

Computer Arts has a nice tutorial on using Adobe Illustrator CS2 to ink and color a traditional comic-style drawing.  (They've actually got a lot of tutorials on the site.)

Just indulge me for a minute here: a new Jeremy t-shirt! I've always loved Jon Morris' little Frankenstein-like character.

Chris Ware's comic work for the New York Times magazine is over - check it all out here

Stupid is as stupid does

I'm sure there was/is. It's just that apparently the Japanese are willing accept that some people are just totally screwed up by design and if it wasn't anime then the neighbor's dog probably would have told them the same things.

In America it's not popular to believe than a person is inherently flawed. In America the attitude is that there is no problem that can't be fixed and that includes people. "People don't normally act that way so something must have set them off so lets ban whatever it is". There are still people that believe if Charles Manson hadn't listened to the White Album he wouldn't have killed all those people.

Speaking of freaky comic fans

This guy "wins"

This guy too

I wonder if they had the Japanese Jack Thompson back then to act as the fanboy boogeyman who's going to take away their Christmas from them?

You put the comics in the blender? Okay, I have to draw the line somewhere and that's it.

GregC, I read your comic,

GregC, I read your comic, and in order to blend in with my vampire friends, I put them in a blender. You're saying, that is going to far? Anyway, it explains my lack of friends. Thanks Greg.

Freaky Fans

I got an email from a reader once that said he drank human blood, so he could "blend in with his vampire friends". A couple of novelists I emailed to ask what they did when they got stuff like that said ignore it. If you do comics/novels/whatever with vampires these people tend to come out of the woodwork. Now I'm wondering now if I should forward them to the FBI or someone from now on, just in case. One good thing about not being popular is that it cuts down on the number of nutjobs trying to contact you.

At least my comic isn't about gaming... That's just sick. ;-)

Frickin' A! Now when people

Frickin' A!

Now when people bitch me about about the content of my comic I can say, "Hey! At least fans of MY webcomic don't eat the flesh of murdered little girls!"

Or they're just not caught

Or they're just not caught yet.

I am impressed

You know, I just got a request to use one of my strips in a doctoral thesis in nanotechnology at MIT.

Seems like MY readers are all, like...engineers, scientists, doctors, professors, lexicographers... At worst I could maybe see Ted Kaczynski getting a chuckle out of a PartiallyClips or two.

Jon's fans eat babies.

None of us are ever going to top that.

Man, that cannibal thing is

Man, that cannibal thing is freakin creepy!

Cannibals vs. Fat Uncle Sam

I also see that cannibal blogger once had "a bruise on my chest where she tried to pinch my fat man-breasts." I can't help but think that maybe if I had done a better job fighting back against the fanatical conspiracy to sabotage my Fat Uncle Sam With A Bacon Double Cheeseburger Project, perhaps I could have helped this young man with the eating disorder that led to not only fat man boobies but also the idea to make human shish kabobs?
