FAQ: The Guide to Comixpedia for Creators

I've been trying to polish up the new FAQ for Comixpedia and I just wrote up a page intended to explain all the ways that a creator of comics can use and participate in Comixpedia (I'm using Comixpedia to refer to all three of our current sites). Creators should go check it out and I hope take us up on all of the available options.

It's also a good time to ask questions to make sure that this page is clear and complete (and the rest of the FAQ too!).

You can use the contact form on my account here on the site or just email the url to xerexes AT comixpedia DOT com. If you know the feed URL send it as well as the regular URL.Â

Thank you so much for that

Thank you so much for that post! I did a couple things on the list. I really didn't realize there was so much that could be done. Oh, but I have been trying to spread the word about Comixpedia!

I would like to know how to display images in my signature, assuming we're still allowed to do so.

Also, just so you know, I have to log in and out of the site twice every time for some reason. I have previously attempted to add [url=http://www.one-liners.net/]One-liners[/url] to the Comixpedia toplist, to no avail.

About writing for Comixpedia, I think it would be good of you to state the themes of each month's issue as you have done previously. I asume this month's theme has to do with going back to school, and therefore college comics, but it would be nice for you to let us knew so that anyone who is interested knows for sure.

Lastly, I think a stickied forum thread or something similar detailing what codes (HTML, BBcode, etcetera.) we have to use when posting, since that type of thing seems to change a lot around here, which makes for stupid looking posts like this.

I had the logging on twice

I had the logging on twice thing. Some kind person here sorted it for me (can't remember who so, if you're reading this, thx again!)

It was because I was trying to log in at http://www.comixpedia.com rather than http://comixpedia.com. Lose the "www" and you might find it's okay. (It worked for me!)

I edited your post a bit to demonstrate

Look at your post in edit mode - I changed the last image/link to html through the WYSIWYG editor so you could see how it's supposed to work.Â

Log-in Issues, Magazine Writing and Top List

1. The log-in issue is a known bug - slap your reload button and it should show you logged in. (It's something I'm hoping the Drupal.org folks will fix in 5.0) It's annoying and happens to me to sometimes but it's not a good use of my (limited) time to work on it.

2. Displaying images in your sig line should be easy -see my other reply post on the WYSIWYG editor and/or what html code you can use (click on the "input format" below).

3. I haven't rejected One-Liners consciously (I wouldn't reject a comic but unfortunately there is a steady stream of chat/spam/etc sites submitted to the top list) - perhaps you applied to the old version running on Postnuke - I switched it over to a new script in the middle of this summer. If you apply again and have a problem email me (you can click on my account name and use the "contact me" function).

4. There was no magazine planned for this month so no theme was picked. If you're interested in writing please email me or at least join the staff mailing list so you can chime in on those discussions (there's another Magazine Contributor FAQ I wrote). I'm not sure if we're going to have a theme for October - sometimes picking a theme makes it harder to come up with a slate of decent articles but if we do pick a theme we'd share it ahead of time on the staff list.Â

BB Code Bad - WYSIWYG Editor Good!

Xaviar Xerexes's picture

You're links that don't work are in BB Code -Â nowhere on the site should you be using BB Code because it's not supported (old forum posts imported from the postnuke/phpBB site have BB Code but consider that a legacy feature) - use the buttons below the input box for formatting and links or if you're old school click on (1) disable rich-text, (2) click on input format and change it to FIltered HTML and you'll also see down there what HTML tags you're allowed to use on the site.
