Webcomix Thing - Cancelled?
Submitted by moovok on September 17, 2006 - 13:39
The UK has many conventions but only one is specific to the smaller presses and webcomics of the known world. The UK Web and Mini Comix Thing has been running since 2004 and it seems that last year was its last outing.
The main guy behind it, "Mr Thing", has decided this year will not go on, wanting to "focus on leaving England."
There is currently word that people may band together and keep the Thing alive, but at this current point, the Webcomix Thing is no more.

I think the thing heard you - I got an email yesterday informing me that the thing will be going ahead in march as usual. Hurrah for the thing!

I don't live in London and I don't have lots of cash handy to give away in a hopes of getting it back! I would love to do a convention, maybe 2008, but probably somewhere Up North.
Thanks for the nomination though, the dawn of the golden age of UK Webcomics will have to wait until 2008 :)

Well, I don't know how far "Up North" you're thinking of, but there is already the Lancaster Comics Convention in October.Â
That's pretty far north for us soft southerners!
