The Return of Keenparody

Back in 2000-2001 or so there was this parody of Keenspot called Keenparody. Keenparody is juvenile, tasteless and often tritely unfunny. On the other hand, its relentless satirizing of Keenspot seemed, at the time, to reinforce the notion that Keenspot was the big time of webcomics. Why else would someone spend so much time on a parody.

For whatever reason, its anonymous creator BasTage left his project in limbo for a couple of years, but recently restarted it.

  1. Better watch out, he might end up calling your website “Vomitpedia!”

    ROFL

  2. Sssh… Don’t reveal my secret strategy to get mentioned in a Keenparody strip.

  3. Wait a minute… you mean there really is a Keenspot? HOLY CRAP!

  4. *Nod*…It is a mystical realm populated by a lot of people who take themselves to seriously 😉

  5. Oh God, please make the hurting stop.
Then again, I’m willing to conceed that the author is some form of genius. You know, it’s a great idea. There’s absolutely tons of really funny material available from Keenspot that someone could easily parlay into a damn funny, biting satire. (Granted, if you’re talking about keenspace, A lobotomized monkey could do it.)

Yet, unbelievably, the author of this strip manages to completely miss it.

    That, my friends, is genius.

It’s like taking all of the ingredients to make a delicious hot fudge sundae and making a used car tire out of them.
