Shameless self promotion never hurt anyone, right?

Somehow, my anti-social behaviors have transferred to my virtual persona and so getting to know people in a forum such as this is more than a little awkward for me. I haven't been doing webcomics as long as probably the majority of the people on this site and I'd greatly appreciate any pointers that more experienced artists/writers/creators would have for an amateur. And having a few more hits on my site with or without feedback wouldn't hurt my ego too much either. So why not check out my webcomics at www.webcomicsnation.com/jacksprat/?

Or, if not that tell where I should be posting this kind of content so I'm not clogging up this particular forum with unnecessary threads. Thanks.

Of course it never hurt. ;)
Allow me to pimp my webcomic, Rival Angels (www.RivalAngels.com). It's a wrestling webcomic, from the perspective of a twenty-something gal.

My webcomic is pretty new too. It's been up for about two weeks. MassivePwnage.com. There's some communities on LiveJournal that are for plugging your comic. I'm actually not a forum person, so I'm not too fond of randomly plugging my site at places, but I do it sometimes : P

Yeah, I just started a couple of weeks ago and have not promoted like I guess I should. I find it hard to even post blogs on the comic site. Now that's pathetic. But I created an ad and now I need to make the rounds with comic forums. So I guess I need to get shameless, but will probably do so in babysteps.

On the subject of forum

On the subject of forum posting, I recommend seriously evaluating the communities you post under. If you feel like this community can really benefit your webcomic, then spend more energy (but not an obessive amount of energy) communicating to that community. But don't just evaluate the pull and popularity of that community - pay attention to the kinds of personalities that dominate that community. A small but open community where you can talk freely about webcomic work is twice more valuable than large but closed community that has you jumping through hoops just to make a plug. Be polite and conscientious on open communities but don't loose sleep over other, more tolitarian forums - its just not worth it.

Pimp it like a Times Square Ho'

I agree. Pimp your comic as hard as you can because nobodies gonna do it for you. Why? Because they're too busy out there pimpin' their own comics. Dee - GAAK: Groovy Ass Alien Kreatures It's like The Goonies meets The Invaders from Mars.

Shameless self promoting is

Shameless self promoting is the name of the game when it comes to comics...especially web comics. Fly that flag and go out and make people salute it.

I'm pretty new at

I'm pretty new at comics myself, but here are a few pointers, anyhow:

I think it might help if you added boundaries or borders to the outside edges of your panels. You may also want to make the borders themselves slightly thicker.

You might benefit from more digital editing. Your scanner has picked up a few artifacts like the edge of a piece of paper, and your comic would look more professional if you got rid of that after scanning the comic in. Also, although you've been working on it, I would continue to fiddle with the contrast in order to get the sharpest image possible.

I'm pretty shy, so I've been finding myself in the same boat as I've been trying to promote my comic and can certainly sympathize. Good luck!
