I’m hard pressed to think of any time anyone called *-Man “Manuel,†except for during the very clever Tick live-action show about a decade back. I’m getting old!
Tangentially, I’ve caught up to the end of season 3 of the TV show “Supernatural,†and as the show wears on you can really see Ben Edlund’s influence in some of the ways they tweak the nose of tropes normally associated with X-Files stuff. Edlund’s Supernatural episodes are like the old Darin Morgan X-Files eps — always pretty funny but with weirdly resonant human cores to them. Is there something about comedy writing that makes people good “human†writers as well?
