An update from new addition to the Comixpedia library – Wiz Rollins — he has a new website layout for his webcomic Bad Shape.

  1. Jeff, given that FLEEN is a webcomic critics collective does that mean "…the majority of webcomic CRITICS are lonely geeks living in garrets and basements, and need all the friends they can scare up or pay for."?

I don't think Fleen is a collective. As to the rest of your statement… I think statistically… Well, now that Eric is tracking his (and Wednesday's) sex life in his criticism blog… umm… I guess I'll say no more.

Just make sure you read my follow up comments to this article.

  2. Sure Fleen is a collective – it’s a group blog and probably even more collective than a webcomic group is. But in any event, it was just a joke playing off of what Jeff wrote in the post…

  3. Just to be clear… I am Jeff Lowrey …. You know, so that we get the facts straight. (Don’t tell T Campbell!)

So, um. No, I don’t think Fleen is a collective.

  4. I agree with Jeff Zamphir. A webcomics collective in the traditional sense that we use is a conglomeration of various separate webcomics that band together for a multitude of business and/or artistic reasons.

Fleen is simply a group blog. It’s no more a “collective” than the Evil Network, also a group blog.

  5. Isn’t it? News reporting hasn’t always been a group effort. News collectives have been around for hundreds of years, but they’re still collectives. Collective isn’t a particularly specific word, after all. If you’ve got a group of people pooling resources toward some purpose in a somewhat formalized way, you’ve got a collective. Whether you’re talking about art, or news, or commentary — the kind of content really has nothing to do with it.

  6. If I wasn’t the Emperor for life of Comixpedia then maybe it would be a collective but since I’m the all powerful Wizard, it’s not.

    I’m kidding!

    Mwhahahahahaha!!!

  7. Really? Now I’m confused – it’s like you have two names or something…

Only evil manipulative people do that! 🙂

  8. Only evil manipulative people do that!
