Black comic creators holla back part 2: Webcomics boogaloo!!!

A couple of years ago I wrote a blog post called "Black comic creators holla back" as kind of a gathering place for black comic creators to meet and introduce themselves to eachother and to share their work. Well, now I'm doing it again. I'm Darryl Hughes. I'm a freelance writer from NYC. I really don't make comics I'm more of a graphic novelist and indy self publisher. That is I create graphic novels which I publish myself. :)

Action Teenz #2 Complete!

It took me a long time to get this thing finished but if finally is done.

Here is the complete second issue of Action Teenz.

Action Teenz

Back on Track

Well, it's the end of January, and I'm happy. Why? Certainly not due to the weather, which is psychotic. Because for the first time in over a year, Pear-Pear has exceeded 1,000 unique visitors in one month. It's an arbitrary milestone, but makes me happy nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who's coming back, and to everyone who's checking out the comic for the first time! Onward and upward!

Minor updates to Pear-Pear site

This week I've added a couple long-needed tweaks to the site.

Our old RSS service went defunct, so the most recent comics, feedback page, and archive page now link to a new RSS service (RSSpect).

The archive page now features chapter titles in text (suggested a long time ago by Xaviar). I'm hoping this small addition will help new readers feel oriented, and that there is a narrative structure to the comic even though it may not be apparent at a first perusal.

Pear-Pear #103, and Scripting with the Monomyth

So, I've just posted a couple comics in the last couple of weeks. And I've been thinking about how to better "write" Pear-Pear so that I'm more motivated to update regularly.

The answer, at least for now, is to use Campbell's Monomyth as a kind of outline. An original strategy? Hell no. But I bet I'm the first person to apply the monomyth to a pear.

New Jesus & Mo collection includes Foreword by Richard Dawkins

The sixth collection of Jesus & Mo comics, Folie à Dieu, has a foreword written by Richard Dawkins.

The book contains 170 strips, and is available for purchase at J&M's Lulu store.

Dawkins' Forward can be read at his website.

It’s been awhile since I’ve last updated but in that time Perfect Commando Productions has expanded into a full digital publisher. We’ve licensed our entire catalogue to companies to include our title on their digital libraries. We’ve opened several imprints Blue Sky, Hentai A Go Go, and a new product line Golden Age Revival.

Golden Age revival takes old golden age comics characters and creates new works through our various imprints. Blue Sky is our Yaoi imprint, and our most popular imprint Hentai A Go Go with it wildly popular manga series Eirinn Go Brach by Shin Reiki and Gregory Imperial E.’s bestselling Fairy Tale Twist erotic fairy tale anthology series.

Tiltes are available on Nook, Amazon, and Kobo

There's a new update at THE CONTINENTALS:

A remorseless Donny stands over his father's body listening to Reggie's dying breaths at his hands.

"The Continentals" by Darryl Hughes and Monique MacNaughton. It's like Sherlock Holmes meets the 60's tv show The Avengers with a dash of James Bond for flavor.
