KEENSPOT MEETS TODD & PENGUIN, GETS BACK DOWN TO EARTH
Internet’s most popular webcomic publisher signs new creator and welcomes back two.

Cresbard, SD, March 7, 2005 – TODD & PENGUIN ( www.toddandpenguin.com ) by David Wright and DOWN TO EARTH ( www.downtoearthcomic.com ) by Gavin Chafin and Steve Wood are the newest Keenspot webcomics, Keenspot Entertainment Co-CEO Chris Crosby announced today.

Recently named “Best Quiet Comic of 2004” by Eric Burns of Websnark.com, TODD & PENGUIN is a mix of humor both bitter and sweet. The comic follows down on his luck Todd, a guy in his 20’s whose life is not turning out as planned, and Penguin, his naive, cookie-loving penguin that is more like a kid than a pet. The characters also include the angry little girl down the road, Jessika, whose cynicism and intelligence are leaps and bounds beyond that of her peers, therefore making Penguin one of her only friends. She frequently bursts into rants that leave Penguin puzzled, but she gives him cookies, so he sticks around. Lastly, there is Todd’s cat, Oscar, who by nature of being a cat, is self-centered and likes to destroy plants and furniture when he is not sleeping.

“Keenspot is THE webcomic syndicate,” said Wright. “Not only do they host some of the best comics on the web, but they have an awesome community. What they are building is nothing short of amazing. The company as a whole, ‘Spot and ‘Space (Keenspace.com is Keenspot’s free webspace service for aspiring comic creators), has given opportunities to thousands of artists who may never of otherwise found an audience. I am thrilled to now be part of the Keenspot family!”

TODD & PENGUIN has been on the web since 2000 and has also appeared in the Stanford Daily newspaper. As well as web publishing, books and other merchandise based on the feature are being developed by Wright through Keenspot.

DOWN TO EARTH chronicles the everyday life of Hell’s population and stars The Grim Reaper himself. First joining Keenspot in 2000, creators Gavin Chafin & Steve Wood moved from Keenspot to another web publisher in 2001. Says Wood, “We’re very much looking forward to being part of the Keenspot family again.”

“We’re more than happy to welcome Gavin and Steve’s DOWN TO EARTH right back where it belongs, alongside the best eternally damned comics on the web,” said Crosby.

  1. I’m a bit biased with regards to Dave Wright as I’ve known him since ALTbrand days and he’s contributed to Comixpedia often in the past –

    CONGRATS!!!
